It is to understand what a service includes, who does what and which checks are planned.<\/p>\n<p>Write a short record: <em>Audience \u2014 situation \u2014 exact question \u2014 intended decision \u2014 language and location \u2014 existing page \u2014 owner.<\/em> Look first at your service pages, guides and case studies. If a page already serves the same need, improve it rather than publishing a competing variation. This journey helps you produce a first working record and an observable check, rather than recreate that in-depth guide.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Check whether the page can be read, then whether it is indexed<\/h2>\n<p>Ask the website owner to examine the public response, rendered text, internal links, canonical version, noindex directives and access rules. A page you can view while signed in may remain inaccessible to a search engine. A firewall or content delivery network can block a crawler even when robots.txt permits access.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Indexability is a technical possibility; indexing is a state to verify.<\/strong> A successful HTTP response or sitemap entry does not establish that Google has indexed the page. Use Search Console URL Inspection with authorised access to examine the reported state. Without those data, record \u201cindexing not verified\u201d, rather than \u201cindexed\u201d or \u201cabsent\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/appearance\/ai-features?hl=fr\">Google\u2019s official documentation on its AI search features<\/a> explains that a page must be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet to qualify as a supporting link in AI Overviews or AI Mode. It requires neither a special AI file nor additional AI-specific markup. Meeting the conditions does not guarantee inclusion. Answer with evidence the reader can inspect<\/h2>\n<p>For our fictional migration example, start by explaining who prepares the files, who transfers the records and who validates the result. Specify what the offer includes and what depends on a preliminary assessment. Then add an example check using demonstration data: matching references, listing records not transferred and obtaining approval from the responsible person.<\/p>\n<p>Label this check on demonstration data as an illustrative example. If you have an actual publishable case, explain its scope, method and limitations, with the necessary permissions. An unsupported number does not become evidence because it is easy to quote.<\/p>\n<p>Review the page with three questions. Can someone understand the answer without opening several tabs? Can they distinguish the rule from its exceptions? Can they check the important claim? An AI Worker can flag unsupported passages and prepare suggested revisions; the offer owner validates commitments. Clarity lets the reader check the answer; the log below will track observed citations.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Separate crawler purposes before changing access<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.openai.com\/api\/docs\/bots\">OpenAI\u2019s official crawler documentation<\/a> distinguishes OAI-SearchBot, associated with search in ChatGPT, GPTBot, associated with training, and ChatGPT-User, associated with certain user-triggered visits. These are not three names for the same permission. A user-triggered retrieval does not establish eligibility for ChatGPT search.<\/p>\n<p>Have the access-policy owner review the settings, including infrastructure-level blocks. Do not change the training policy simply to improve search discovery: these purposes have separate controls. An editorial instruction is not permission to open private content.<\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s documentation concerns its own search experiences. It is not a ranking recipe for ChatGPT or another assistant. You can test additional formats when their intended use is clear, but do not treat llms.txt, paragraph lengths or a prescribed number of questions as universal visibility requirements.<\/p>\n<h2>5. Keep a log that separates the outcomes<\/h2>\n<p>Define the stages before counting them: <strong>indexability<\/strong>, technical eligibility; <strong>indexing<\/strong>, actual inclusion in the relevant index; <strong>citation<\/strong>, a link to your page in an answer; <strong>recommendation<\/strong>, your business being proposed for a need; <strong>referral visit<\/strong>, someone reaching your site from that service; <strong>conversion<\/strong>, a defined business action such as a qualified enquiry. A mention without a link is not a citation linking to your page, and a citation is not necessarily a recommendation.<\/p>\n<p>In a table, retain the exact question, engine and product used, language, location where known, date, session conditions, answer and observed source links. Repeat the same small question set at comparable times and keep negative observations too. A single answer can vary with context and does not establish sustained improvement.<\/p>\n<p>Track visits and enquiries separately in authorised tools, using a stable conversion definition. Google includes performance from its AI features in Search Console\u2019s Web search type; do not invent a dedicated AI breakdown. Where tracking is unreliable or missing, record \u201cunavailable\u201d. Even after an edit, an observed increase is not enough to attribute the effect to that edit.<\/p>\n<h2>6. Run a first trial on one page, then decide<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Your exercise:<\/strong> choose one buying question and an existing page. Complete the question\u2013page\u2013evidence record. Preserve the starting version, have access checked, then prepare one improvement: make a responsibility explicit, add authorised evidence or explain a missing limitation. Obtain approval before publishing the change.<\/p>\n<p>The immediate expected result is a more useful page and a checkable record: what changed, why, who approved it and what remains unknown. The log then lets you observe answers and business actions without conflating the stages. If the page is inaccessible, first address that blocker within the authorised scope.
